Frequently asked questions

THE NYS CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROFESSIONALS WITH 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE SYSTEM.

ATTORNEYS AT LAW

HAMMOCK & SULLIVAN, PC

Q: What do you guarantee?
A:We guarantee hard work and sincere effort on behalf of all of our clients. It would be unethical, immoral and totally against our personal values to guarantee to any client what someone or some entity will or will not do or decide about a pending legal matter.

Q:What is a retainer?
A: A retainer is an advance or upfront payment on the fee or a portion of the total fee for a specific case.

Q:Why can’t you tell me what the total fee will be?
A: In some types of matters, we can do just that. However, in others, initially we honestly don’t know what it is that needs to be done and how much time we will spend in resolving the matter. Most of our matters are billed on a flat fee basis.

Q:Do you take pro bono cases?
A:No. Because of the nature of the work that we do, the reasonable fees we charge, and the fact that we are not government funded, we are unable to take pro bono cases. Having said that, we donate a considerable amount of our time and knowledge to organizations, people, and issues that are important to various communities.
